Crate 4×10″ (Vintage 70s Greenback/ 60s Jensen)
We thought it was important to offer this screen as a tool to cover the sound palette of 10″ speakers that are so neglected today but that are interesting to us because they focus on the mid-frequencies of the guitar. Some bluesmen are fans of this measure (Stevie Ray Vaughan, Robert Cry…) and several models of amplifiers, especially Fender, mount and have mounted this measure.
We’ve used a ’90s Crate tall series cabinet (used by Mark Knopfler) to install two pairs of original vintage speakers from the ’60s and ’70s, Jensen and Celestion Greenback respectively. Greenbacks have a sweet, creamy tone in the mids. The Jensen have a sweet tone without the harsh high end of today’s. They both sound very good and very vintage because, obviously, they are. Pairing this cabinet with our amps you can get Fender Super Reverb tones, among others, or new interesting and very efficient combinations. In addition, this screen gives you two different tones on the same screen thanks to its two different pairs of speakers.
These speakers have been used in styles such as surf, pop, rock, blues…
