Hi-Watt DR504 (Two Input) Vintage ´79 Harry Joice + Flight Case

3.250,00

Description

A very serious and inspiring amplifier. It is one of the finest examples of high-end British classical engineering design, known for its extremely clean, powerful, and three-dimensional sound, and regarded as one of the most respected amplifiers in rock history for its build quality, massive headroom, and outstanding clarity. One of the hallmarks of Hi-Watt construction from this era is its exquisite, military-grade handcrafted build quality.

One of the last from the Hylight Electronics era of Hiwatt. Wired by Harry Joyce Electronics (the prestigious workshop that handled the “mil-spec” wiring for Hiwatt). It’s not as commonly seen as its 100-watt siblings and, moreover, this particular two-input model is among the rarest, as it was only produced between 1978 and 1981. It retains the classic Hi-Watt clean tones and character, while allowing power-stage saturation at more manageable volume levels. It translates guitar playing extremely accurately and can go from pristine cleans to raw metal tones. It is slightly more compressed than its 100-watt counterparts, which actually makes it easier to control and use. This 2-input model has slightly more preamp gain than the 4-input versions, making it easier to drive into saturation. It has enough dynamics to perform perfectly in a band setting and is especially inspiring for studio recording.

It is no coincidence that this amplifier model was widely used by Scorpions guitarist Matthias Jabs and Europe guitarist John Norum, both in studio and live performances. In fact, it was Matthias Jabs’ favourite model, and recently John Norum has still been seen using one identical unit.
