Ibanez Artcore AGB140 Brown Sunburst Semihollow Bass

375,00€ €

Available at Kitarshokak, this Ibanez Artcore AGB140 is a four-string semihollow electric bass belonging to the first generation of Ibanez Artcore Bass instruments.

The AGB140 was introduced by Ibanez in the mid-2000s and manufactured in China. The model was available approximately between 2004 and 2006, becoming one of the most distinctive instruments in the Artcore Bass range thanks to its classic semihollow construction, elegant appearance and warm, defined tone.

This particular example features an attractive Brown Sunburst finish, combining brown and reddish tones that stand out beautifully against the semihollow body and ivory-coloured binding.

Based on its specifications and serial number, this bass belongs to the first production period of the AGB140, most likely from 2005.

This is a particularly well-preserved example, from a single owner and in virtually new condition, with no apparent signs of use.

It also includes an original Ibanez soft gig bag, useful for transportation and storage.

Tonal character

The AGB140’s semihollow construction gives it a distinctive tonal character compared with a conventional solid-body electric bass.

Its Ibanez ACHB-1 passive pickup delivers a warm and defined sound, with a particularly pleasing response for melodic bass lines and styles where a certain degree of depth and fullness is desired.

It is especially well suited to:

  • Jazz
  • Blues
  • Classic Rock
  • Rock
  • Pop
  • Soul
  • Funk
  • Acoustic music and small ensemble formats
  • Recording studio work

The 34″ scale length provides a familiar playing feel for any bassist accustomed to a standard-size electric bass.

Why is it special?

The Ibanez Artcore series became one of Ibanez’s best-known lines for semihollow instruments, and the AGB140 represents one of the company’s early offerings within the Artcore Bass range.

Compared with many modern basses loaded with active electronics, EQ sections and multiple controls, the AGB140 keeps things considerably simpler: a passive humbucker, volume and tone controls.

This allows the player to focus on the instrument itself while giving the character of the bass and amplifier a more prominent role in the overall sound.

Its semihollow construction, standard 34″ scale, maple body and three-piece maple/mahogany neck provide a balanced combination of comfort, resonance and stability.

The Brown Sunburst finish is particularly attractive, giving the instrument a classic appearance that fits perfectly with the Artcore concept.
